Marketing and Public Relations Committee
An interest in promotion and public relations - skills in organizing
events, writing, and/or graphic design, plus creativity and motivation to
work independently - is needed for this committee that works to expand RTB's visibility as a provider of pro bono services to
those in need. Members develop and oversee production of all of RTB's printed and electronic communications, including
the Newsletter, visual presentations, and donation mailings, and organize
events for RTB.
Site
Selection and Management (SS&M) Committee
SS&M is the committee that makes RTB's
renovation program happen. When a homeowner or non-profit applies for help,
financial qualifications are reviewed by the President, the Board, and
members of SS&M. If the applicant qualifies, SS&M committee members
make initial site visits and determine the feasibility of RTB's being able to accept the recipient and the site
into the program. Construction experience, particularly in renovation
whether "do-it-yourself" or professional, is a great skill to
bring to this committee.
Volunteer
Committee
These volunteers are important "behind the scenes" people. Prior
to Rebuilding Day, they contact and coordinate the groups and individuals
(1000+) that will be volunteering and provide support for them on their
projects. Working with RTB staff and House Captains, they organize the
distribution and collection of volunteer waivers, provide background
information on recipients and travel directions to the sites, deliver drinks
and lunches, and, overall, work to make sure that all RTB volunteers have a
great experience.
Fundraising
Committee
This committee is being restructured and RTB is actively recruiting
volunteers for this very important component of our program. Success in
fundraising will enable RTB to implement goals for growth and expansion.
Enthusiasm for the benefits provided by RTB's pro
bono services, the opportunity to implement new programs and develop new
contacts, and experience in fundraising are meaningful experience for
participation on this committee.
House
Captains (HCs)
House Captain - In preparation for Rebuilding Day, each HC visits their
assigned site with their PS, gets to know the homeowner and family, helps
to prioritize the scope of work, and, on the day of the project, serves as
the "go to" person on the site. On Rebuilding Day, the HCs function as project managers, making sure that the
work and clean-up is completed as planned and are responsible for making
sure that everyone has a successful, safe, and enjoyable volunteer
experience. Successful HCs are organized,
flexible, energetic, and enjoy working with people.
Project
Supervisors (PSs)
Project Supervisor - PSs have the construction skills necessary to ensure
that the scope of work is reasonable, the required skilled labor is
identified, and, with the HCs, facilitate the
work of RTB's many unskilled volunteers.
Contractors, Project Managers, Carpenters, Electricians, Plumbers - or
veteran "weekend warriors" with good renovation skills - find the
PS job challenging and rewarding. Prior to the work day, they visit their
assigned site with the HC. They finalize the scope of work and provide the
RTB office with the list of building materials needed to do the work. PSs are responsible for all technical construction
aspects of their sites.
